Topology optimization for micro/nano optics

Abstract: This talk presents our research on topology optimization of micro/nano optics and its experimental verification. By focusing on the key scientific problems including the innovative design with synthetical consideration of the micro/nano scale effect and fabrication constraint, for dielectric structures of nano-optics, we proposed a topology optimization method based on a compound regularization procedure and spitted wave equations, and overcome the challenging problem of the high numerical-aperture metalens in terms of process reliability; for metal structures of nano-optics, we proposed a topology optimization method based on the hybrid material interpolation, and overcome the limitation on the field strength enhancement of the localized surface plasmonic resonance; we developed the topology optimization method of fluid dynamics, solved the challenging problem on the design of microtextures at liquid/solid interfaces, proposed the topology optimization method implemented on manifolds and extended the design space of topology optimization onto two-dimensional manifolds.
Prof. Yongbo Deng
Research interest: Micro/nano optics
Prof. Yongbo Deng is a full professor at Changchun Institute of Optics Fine Mechanics and Physics (CIOMP), Chinese Academy of Sciences, China. He received his PhD in Mechanical Engineering from Changchun Institute of Optics Fine Mechanics and Physics (CIOMP), Chinese Academy of Sciences. He derived a Humboldt Research Fellowship for Experienced Researchers in 2018, and was elected as the member of Youth Innovation Promotion Association of Chinese Academy of Sciences in the same year. During 2016 and 2017, he derived the Grant Fellowship of Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) in Germany as a guest professor in the Institute of Microstructure Technology.
He published 47 research papers, including 36 SCI papers in the field of nano-optics, microfluidics and topology optimization. He also published one monograph on topology optimization of flow problems and obtained 12 issued invention patents.
